About Yvonne Beck Celebrant

Hello and thank you for checking my profile. It’s great to “meet” you! Congratulations on your forthcoming celebrations! Since 2011 when I qualified as an independent Marriage Celebrant, it has been my privilege and pleasure to design, write and conduct over 300 ceremonies! As an award winning Celebrant I am proud to give my couples the very best service I can and recognise and appreciate what a great honour it is to share in their special day. A Celebrant led ceremony is totally tailored to you and therefore completely personal, with no restrictions in terms of time, location, content, theme or format. I will include your story, your beliefs and values and any cultural or spiritual wishes to make it totally unique. Your personally written Celebrant-led ceremony will wow your family and your guests and can include beautiful romantic symbolic elements such as a hand fasting, Sand, Rose, Wine or Candle ceremony. Or maybe you have other ideas we can use too? New rituals are created all the time and can be based on whatever you wish. Express yourself by writing your own promises and create memories to cherish! I can offer bilingual ceremonies in two languages - English/Englisch and German/Deutsch - which allows you and your family and guests to feel fully included! With your style and ideas and my experience your Wedding Ceremony will be a unique and wonderful occasion! PLEASE NOTE As my ceremonies are celebratory and bespoke but currently not legally binding in England - if you want to legalise your marriage then please Register your marriage at a registry office and opt for a standard legal ceremony costing around £60, with two witnesses and say the 32 legal contracting words to obtain your marriage licence. You don't have to exchange rings - it's actually not a mandatory part of the civil marriage service. After the paperwork is done you can relax and enjoy your celebrant led ceremony, which was created totally for you and which you have complete creative control over and will be tailored to your relationship, values and beliefs. I can help and advise on venues suppliers, and details like readings and poems, choreography and staging, internal ceremonies and of course personal vows and promises. It’s your day. I make sure it’s your ceremony ! Hoping to hear from you - we meet by Skype or face to face if possible and discuss your plans and ideas. Only when you’ve decided I’m the right celebrant for you do we go into booking and finalising the paperwork. I only conduct one ceremony on any date so check my availability with me first. Sending you my warmest wishes Yvonne xxx. Ps - I do hold both public and personal liability insurances and am a Member if the Fellowship oh Professional Celebrants.

Yvonne is a superb celebrant who did a fantastic job with our wedding in June 2019 in London. She was extremely organised beforehand, giving us lots of chances to review the script and lots of good advice. Her communication is excellent (Skype video calls when we needed it, clear emails), which made everything easier. On the day she was great at delivering the words we had chosen together and spoke very clearly and with warmth. She has a happy presence, and very professional and put us all at ease, making it much easier than it could have been! We would have no hesitation in recommending her! John and Julie

Dear John and Julie. Thank you for your very kind words - your feedback is much appreciated and I am delighted that you have had such a wonderful Wedding Day and that the ceremony met all your expectations! It was so lovely to meet you and spend time getting to know you both - and your family too! It was an honour and a pleasure to be your Celebrant and to share in your beautiful day! Warmest wishes Yvonne.

I would like to make a note the service was for a Naming Ceremony, there was no option for this. Yvonne Beck delivered an absolutely memorable service for our Daughters Naming Ceremony in May 2017. We were joined by many family and friends and we had a wonderful day. I have known Yvonne for a number of years as she has attended and delivered the service for my best friends children, one being my Guide Child and the other two children that she has. Yvonne took the time to get to know my partner and his son throughout the time we were preparing for the day and everyone from my family was included in the service which I thought was a lovely touch. I would thoroughly recommend Yvonne to conduct any service, she is such a lovely lady.

Questions & answers

What should customers know about your pricing? (E.g. estimates, discounts, fees, package pricing)
My prices are all inclusive of unlimited drafts of your ceremony, unlimited contact with you, and no extra charges for bilingual ceremonies in England. I also do not charge for travel within a 50 mile radius of London, or for car hire. I would however have to charge accommodation in a mid range B and B should you need me to arrive for a ceremony where the location is further away and I would not be able to return home in the day. I don't offer discounts but would be happy to discuss a package that might be suitable for you - where I would be looking to offer additional value rather than cut my price of £750 for a wedding, and £650 for a Vow Renewal. My pricing is as follows - a £200 booking fee which closes off the date for you exclusively and ensures I am available for your date a £400 interim instalment for the First Ceremony Draft which covers my work to date a final payment £*varies which would be required no later than 4 weeks before your Day. I hope this seems clear, and fair, and again I am happy to discuss arrangements, but all fees are only accepted via Bank Transfer. I cannot accept cash, credit card or PayPal payments.
What process do you go through when starting with a new customer?
We would meet, either by Skype or if possible, face to face and discuss, your ceremony dreams, and get to know each other a little better! We would be working together over 6 - 12 months, so it is important that you feel comfortable. I am a warm and enthusiastic person, with a whimsical sense of humour - that's my style. I like to bring my personality to your ceremony as well as my skills and experience. Once you say yes, I will send you a Booking Form /Terms and Conditions, and also send you also a Couples Questionnaire which will be the foundation of the Ceremony script. We could discuss your Vows and Promises, and what style and type of ceremony you would prefer - a total surprise on the day? Or surprise Vows? Traditional or Modern? Themed or simple? There are so many ideas you might have, and ideas and experience I have, it's so exciting!! I begin writing the ceremony around 3 - 4 months before the date, and aim to have the final script approved 4 weeks beforehand. This means that there might be a few months where you won't hear from me, but you will be pressing on with your other wedding plans. I am always there for you though, all the way through the process.
What education or training is most relevant to your work?
I am a confident articular presenter and writer, have written marketing and copy for public and private companies, and have presented training and education on a national, regional and local platform in my long career in public services. I trained with the UK College of Celebrancy in 2011 and gained the Certificate in Marriage and Family Celebrancy. I am a Member of the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants.
Do you have tips or advice for someone hiring a pro in your line of work?
Please do get to know your Celebrant and ensure they have the right personality, skills, experience and expertise to be able to work with you through many months, supporting and advising you all the way from first contact to your Wedding Day. A Celebrant starting out may have the same skills and knowledge as a Celebrant of many years' standing, it really is a very personal choice for you but if you feel that your ceremony is in good hands, please trust yourself. Prices may vary considerably nowadays, and new celebrants might not charge as much as established Celebrants, but it really isnt just about price in this relationship, it really is about how you feel - your Celebrant should feel like a trusted member of your Wedding Team! Their Reviews and Social Media content will also help you to make a choice, but do ask ALL your questions - and remember we are not offended if you speak to several Celebrants, or don't choose us. We would always prefer you to have the perfect Celebrant for you, for your Wedding Day! We genuinely get that we are not everyone's cup of tea, and our wish for you is that you find the right tone, expertise, style and personality for you.
What questions should customers have ready before speaking to pros about their project?
It is often difficult to know what to ask your Celebrant but I would suggest the following: What is your COVID19 policy on rescheduling or cancellation? What is your COVID19 policy on safe working? What is your favourite type of couple or ceremony? What sort of ceremonies / styles do you offer ? How flexible are you in terms of timing and style of ceremony? Do you allow religious or spiritual content if we wanted it in our ceremony? What types of symbolic ceremonies have you written, and would you be able to write a bespoke one for us? Where are you able to travel to ? How much do you charge for extra travel and accommodation? Do you have other professional suppliers you could recommend to us? Are you an inclusive Celebrant in terms of alternative lifestyles?
What are some good examples of past customers?
A multi faith wedding ceremony for Hindu and Christian where we combined faith and faith leaders A same sex female ceremony in two languages An elopement ceremony for a couple from the USA to southern Germany A 10 Year Vow Renewal at the original marriage venue for a couple with a Sand Ceremony for their children A Bespoke Bilingual Ceremony with a Fire and Water Ceremony written for the location and the couple (Italian island) A bespoke Hand Washing Ceremony for a same sex female couple who are Muslim/Christian
How did you first get into this line of work?
I was thrilled to be a guest at a wedding in Austrialia in 2003 where they held a Celebrant led cerermony at dusk on a hilltop vineyard overlooking the ocean. The outdoors, the personal storytelling, the emotional vows, all chimed so deeply with me that I knew this was the role I wanted once my "public service career" closed and I was looking for another passion project for my third career! It wasnt until 2011 that I found the College of Celebrancy in the UK and Terri Shanks, the Founder, had been trained by Dally Messenger who had introduced the concept of Celebrancy for Weddings and Funeral in Australia, over 50 years ago. I trained and began in May 2011, and then trained in 2014 as a Funeral Celebrant. I currently offer Weddings and Vow Renewals in England and Germany, in both/either language.
