About The Fairy Voice Mother

Hey! I’m Lolli, a progressive, trusted and expert vocal coach and professional songwriter from London. I specialise in vocal pedagogy applicable to Pop, Rock, Jazz, Country and Musical Theatre (contemporary vocals). I am also a highly experienced Music Theory and Piano teacher. Particularly for students who wish to learn how to play beautiful chords and arrange their own piano part for their original songs or to a cover. I graduated London’s Institute of Contemporary Music Performance with a BMus (Hons) in Vocal Performance and I use the Estil Method in my teaching practices. I know all the science behind how your voice works and I can fix any vocal issue for example straining, dryness, tone, cracking and the break, and limited range. An example of what we may work on in vocal sessions include: * Breath technique and control (including sustaining notes) * Expanding vocal range *’Mix voice’ and the passaggio * Unlocking belt and whistle register * Enhancing natural vocal tone * Vocal health, maintenance and sustainability * Performance ability and confidence * Improvisational skills (riffs, scatting etc) * Harmonisation skills * Spoken word (voice projection, accents, clarity of voice, intonation etc) For Theory classes, we can work on (just an example): * Reading music (Classical notation and chord charts) * Preparing for graded exams * Learning to play by ear * Intervals * The circle of fifths (and everything in-between) * Inversions * Modes * Jazzy chords * Rhythm * Piano Technique and how to play with flare I also teach for RockSchool, ABRSM and Trinity Exams: Grades 1-8 with a 100% pass rate (woohoo!) I have taught a wide range of clients in my career so far, for example: *’Matilda’ of the West End musical ‘Matilda’ and many other professional West End performers * Singers signed with record labels * Teacher of singing at the Amelia Appleby School (ages 6 - adults) * Performing arts teacher at Razzmatazz Theatre School (ages 3 - 18) * Singing teacher of Studio 74 * Over 100 children and adults starting to find their voice * Vocal coach and arranger at DVYM Vocal Ensemble You have an awesome voice, you are an awesome musician. I’ll prove it to you. Love, Lolli x

Singing Lessons
Tracy N.'s review on Oct 11, 2020

My daughter has been asking for singing lessons for ages and through lockdown developed anxiety so I decided to find a singing teacher to help with her confidence knowing it was something she really wanted to do, she had an instant connection with Lolli she is absolutely loving her lessons and is singing all round the house. Lolli is amazing with her and makes it fun she can’t wait to log on every week. I would highly recommend her as she is a great singing teacher and is reliable, professional and fun 😊

Amy M.'s review on Oct 04, 2020

I started my singing journey 4 months ago, my background is dance & running my own theatre school for the past 11 years, I've invested years into teaching children & understand how much we can all achieve our goals with the right training/coaching, I was keen to further my own training & start voice coaching, after previous attempts I gave up with the attitude 'I'm just not a singer'. Years later I was invited to join a band during lockdown, I then had the time & patience to invest the time to learn a bank of songs, so on my last attempt I reached out to Lolli during lockdown as I was able to look further afield, I haven't looked back. Lolli's coaching has not only helped me progress very quickly but also given me confidence and self belief that I am a singer, I can sing and my voice is unique to me. She teaches and tunes in with what your voices needs, individual to you! Highly recommend and proud to call Lolli my voice coach. She is also a very genuine, caring and understanding person. I connected with her on the first session and knew straight away she was the singing coach for me. This experience has shown me to never give up as we all have the potential. Thanks Lolli 😊

So I'm very new in my music journey, a lot of you may have been singing all your lives and it's something that I am 100% not comfortable with. Let's start from the beginning, Lolli is sooo full of energy, not shy of being silly and expressive with all of her, making it so much easier to reciprocate and relax and be silly yourself. My musical journey over months of working with her has improved significantly, and continues to do so. She is MAGICAL! She knows so much; I'll tell her how it feels each step of the way, and she'll have various techniques and tricks to try a different way, to achieve the sound we are trying to achieve. Having been working with her, I feel like I can achieve any singing style and strengthen from the very core. I would say that having tried a few other teachers, she is THE BEST. I couldn't imagine having anyone else help me on this journey. Professional, fun, creative, practical, and mostly LOTS of fun!! Life journeys should always be fun. Fairy Voice Mother - literally, she is glittery magic dust! I guarantee you will never need another teacher again! HERE SHE IS! xx

Working with Lauren was the best decision I have made in my career. She showed me that I can sing in ways I never thought I'd be able to and that there is always a way of hitting 'that note'. She is so funny and always makes me feel comfortable even when singing a song I'm really finding tricky. Her professionaliam is superb and I can't imagine having lessons with anyone else!

Having lolli work with my two daughters has been a delightful experience. The girls have very different voices so have individual lessons which lolli tailors for each them. The girls love working with her and after just 2 lessons each are feeling much more confident in their voices and themselves in general. Thank you lolli.

Questions & answers

What should customers know about your pricing? (E.g. estimates, discounts, fees, package pricing)
I teach either 30, 45 or 60 minute sessions. I offer discounts for those who pay for 4 or more of their sessions at a time.
What process do you go through when starting with a new customer?
I love to chat to my new students over a Zoom video call to get to know them before we start working together. We will discuss your short term and long term goals and talk about your current strengths and weaknesses. Nothing is off the table! You wanna belt? Scream death metal style? Sing with country twang? Sing low, warm, high, bright, riff like Christina Aguilera, distort your voice, do a Britney impression... there are honestly no limits on what you can achieve with your voice. Once we have established how best I can help you to start off with, we make a plan of action and get to work!
What education or training is most relevant to your work?
I have a BMus in Vocal Performance, but more importantly I am full on obsessed with the voice so I have taken my pedagogy studies further and I am currently working on my own vocal method to publish. I'm also extremely experienced. I have taught thousands of singers of the years, from very young children to ages 70+. I feel like working with so many different voices gives me an edge because no two are the same. The more varied experience a vocal coach has, the more challenges they would have had to overcome hence the need to adapt and think creatively and independently about the voices they work with.
Do you have tips or advice for someone hiring a pro in your line of work?
Don't. Go. Cheap. You only get one voice in this lifetime, if you put it in the hands of someone who doesn't know what they're doing and you get hurt, then you might not get a second chance. Blimey that was dark. But the truth is, a good vocal coach should make it their life's work to be studying the latest scientific discoveries and pedagogies to ensure they are giving their students the very best, most modern techniques to sing with. As good coaches dedicate so much time to working on their craft, they will always be paid well for their time. If budget is an issue for you right now, I recommend holding off and saving up for a block of discounted sessions once you have saved enough. In the meantime, keep practicing and make a clear game plan as to what you would like to focus on when you do eventually take lessons. You got this.
