Meet Vicky

No individual can deny that English is an international language with a broadening reach. Contrary to the popular belief, it is an easy language to learn. You require consistency, clarity of concepts and the support of a qualified teacher. I can help you learn English by providing you with all the things required for learning the language. It has been more than 20 years now that I have been teaching individuals belonging to various nationalities. I have taught business English, and general English for living and working in an English speaking environment as well as tutored individuals for Cambridge exams such as IELTS and B1 and B2/FCE. I always stay patient and ensure that my students fully comprehend each concept, before moving on to the next concept. I encourage my students whatever their level and help them to work on their fluency, accuracy and confidence . If you study with me you will learn lots of new words and phrases in interesting lessons which are designed exactly for your personal needs. I always correct individual errors and prepare my lessons focussing on your specific problem areas. Each session will include revision from the previous class, skills work such as listening with reading and writing for homework. I am patient and kind and love encouraging my students to do their best. My students say they have fun while working hard! I would love to hear from you for an initial chat and free assessment of your needs and level. Discount packages are available for longer term lessons. Get in touch Vicky

Vicky understands your needs and expectations. I think she prepared the lessons more than me :). Every single lesson was enjoyable and like a chat with your friend. I always felt very comfortable and learnt so many things from her. My English level extremely improved in a couple of months. We focused on English at work and daily talks. I highly recommend Vicky.

I'm so happy with her because she is very professional and she helped me to get my b2 title. I'd recommend her 100% because she is flexible, cheerful, strict and understandable. If I had to choose an English teacher again, for sure I would choose her. I really like her and her teaching.

Manuelita L.'s review on 14 Jun, 2020

During the years, I’ve tried learning English with different teachers. I’ve struggled learning English and it’s never been my strength. My experiences with Vicky have been incredibly good. As the lessons went on, I noticed my english grammar, vocabulary as well as pronunciation improving. During the lesson, it never felt like I was forced to be there. I always enjoyed being there because it felt like I was talking to a friend, even though I was still learning and improving my English. She noticed my weaknesses and taught me how to correct them. Additionally, she noticed my strengths and helped me develop them. I strongly recommend Vicky as a teacher, if you want to learn and/or improve your English. In my opinion, she’s the best teacher I’ve had.

Questions & answers

What should customers know about your pricing? (E.g. estimates, discounts, fees, package pricing)
This rate includes my planning time, materials and the marking of any written homework. Discounts may be available if booking more than 10 lessons.
What process do you go through when starting with a new customer?
I get some general information about my student either by e-mail or by phone / face to face / online meeting. This is an informal chat where we decide what the student needs and if we would like to work together. During this consultation I will assess the students' level and a make suggestions as to how we can progress. We then decide on timings and details of lessons and I put together a course outline. Once the student agrees that this meets their expectations, we can begin learning together.
What education or training is most relevant to your work?
Teaching experience is obviously key because it means I have seen lots of nationalities and can predict the kind of language and cultural issues which a learner may have. In terms of qualifications a Diploma (DELTA) is considered a very high level to have, alongside other qualifications. This course has both theoretical language analysis and lots of practical teaching so is of real benefit to the student. Many other teachers have the CELTA which is still a good qualification but the DELTA goes into much more depth.
Do you have tips or advice for someone hiring a pro in your line of work?
I think it is important to get a feel for a teacher. It is vital that you get on well together as 1:1 lessons are intense. A phone call or skype/zoom call can help with that. The basic qualification is a CELTA but more importantly look at experience and reviews.
What questions should customers have ready before speaking to pros about their project?
Can you describe a typical lesson? What kind of students have you taught before? What do you love most about teaching?
What are some good examples of past customers?
People who are keen to learn both in and outside of the lesson do well. If learners can put language into practice and use the lesson in real life, they make quicker progress. Students who ask questions and come to class with ideas and questions also learn best.
Describe a recent project that went well. Scope? How long did it take?
A lot of my students stay with me long term and enjoy progressing through the levels. Some clients are shorter term, especially those taking exams. I have taught many IELTS and FCE students who have gone on to do well in their exams. Depending on their start level, depends how long they need.
How did you first get into this line of work?
I have always wanted to teach but wasn't sure what kind of teaching I would enjoy. After university I decided to try out the environment of language schools and worked as a social programme organiser. It went from there. While working, I did a part time CELTA and then as soon as I qualified I moved to Spain for work. I have also lived and worked in Australia and in several cities around the UK. I still love my job and particularly meeting new people all the time.
