About Shivani Kalra

Do you have a job that’s mostly sedentary that’s wreaking havoc on your posture? Are you looking for a low-impact form of exercise that will get you toned and stronger than before? Pilates is a great way to strengthen your body while also improving your postural alignment, and stabilising your core. My interest in Pilates developed after working for over 12 years in the City of London took a toll on my body. I found Pilates did wonders for my posture and it also enhanced flexibility and balance. Encouraged by this turnaround, I eventually trained to be a Pilates instructor and, after several years working for a bank, I’m now passionate about helping people to elevate their health and fitness. Pilates can help if you are looking to ease back aches and pains by learning correct movement techniques. The exercises help strengthen the deep core muscles that support the spine in daily life and, in time, it helps to correct posture. As Pilates is easy on the joints, it’s a gentle workout that improves muscle tone and flexibility without adding bulk. Whether it’s a one-on-one session or a group setting, I am fully focused and give individual attention to each person. For added stability, I often use items for assistance e.g. tights, chair and tissue – whatever you might have lying around, I’ll make it work! I can make the routine very challenging using the above items so you reap positive benefits and emerge stronger. I can also help pre/postnatal clients as well as those dealing with osteoporosis. By building a good rapport and bond with my clients, I am empathetic to their specific needs and will do my best to guide them to become stronger, leaner, and healthier, in body and mind. I was suffering from chronic back and hip pain before I joined Shivani's pilate classes. She helped me to strengthen my core and for the first time in months I was pain free. She is professional and every class has a new challenge . Her exercise plans are suited to everyone 's needs and the best part I like about her is her enthusiasm and her lively remarks which keeps me going. I look forward to her classes as they are full of energy and new challenges.

I have taken classes with Shivani for over a year now, She is very knowledgeable about the body and understands the specific mobility issues I have, making sure that any exercise that is not suitable for me she has an alternative. She has done more for improving my mobility in 18 months than anyone else that I have increased sessions to 2 per week. Shivani is always improving her knowledge in the body, breathing and muscles etc and is always looking at ways to individually help people, for me personally she sent me lots of details of how Pilates can help with Fibromyalgia and exercises to do that will help me. Shivani only runs small groups so she is able to correct us and guide us individually and she makes group fun. I always come out of a session feeling really relaxed and really good in myself and by the next day I can feel muscles that I never new existed.

Shivani is an amazing Pilates teacher. She Takes her time with us all individually, keeps in touch when we are not in classes and is always giving information to us to help with our mental health as well as our physical health. Definitely recommended :-)
