About Owen A. Baldwin

It may sound like a cliche but music offers an endless and remarkable source of expression and inspiration. This definitely has been the case for me and throughout my musical career, the one thing I love most (besides the music!) is how every single day is different. As a music teacher, I am enthusiastic about sharing my passion and guiding my students to cultivate a deeper love for music as they learn to express themselves in their own style. Though my day-time job is a film composer, I also teach guitar, music theory, music technology and composition. With over 12 years of experience as a musician, sound designer, composer, arranger, and performer, I have the wide-ranging skills and creativity to not just teach but to also fire up my students with enthusiasm. I studied music at British and Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM) in London for 5 years and gained a Bachelor's degree along with two diplomas. Throughout the years, I have taught many people of different ages and abilities, helping them gain a better grasp of their guitar skills, theory, composition or technology. I am good at seeing things from my students’ perspectives and take pride in my ability to adapt my teaching in a way that will resonate and inspire them. Along with an outgoing personality and crafting engaging lessons, I am very patient and don't mind going over certain things several times until I see that you have fully understood and can apply what you’ve learnt at each session. I excel at helping my students achieve their goals while introducing them to new horizons and letting their creativity unfold. There is no one way to play music or become a musician, and so I adapt my lessons to fit your desires while offering the right balance between challenge, fun and new elements. Music is a vast art form and it’s inevitable to often discover new things along the way. I am really invested in empowering my students to progress and will do what I can to support you to become an all-rounded and confident musician. Music is more than playing for pleasure – it’s a conversation starter and once you become a skilled musician, it can open incredible doors towards an unusual but always exciting career full of amazing rewards. What are you waiting for – get in touch today and let’s start your musical journey! Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Guitar Lessons
Jordan L.'s review on Jul 22, 2020

Owen gave me lessons for years on a lot of different topics such as guitar, music theory, songwriting, production and the thing that I noticed is how much knowledge he has on so many different subjects. He is very open, kind and patient and taught me so much over the years. I am so happy I have crossed his path and would definitely recommend him!

Questions & answers

What should customers know about your pricing? (E.g. estimates, discounts, fees, package pricing)
I charge £30 per hour, but I'm open to arrangements
What process do you go through when starting with a new customer?
I will meet for free to have a chat about expectations, any prior knowledge in music, tastes etc... We can then agree on a direction as well as frequency of lessons.
Do you have tips or advice for someone hiring a pro in your line of work?
It's best to choose a teacher with whom you get along. Music is supposed to be fun and enjoyable, you don't want a drill sergeant. One of the most important things when playing music is to be relaxed, in order to play and listen better as well as avoiding injuries. This is why it's best to find someone who inspires you rather than someone you end up being scared of down the line.
How did you first get into this line of work?
Music is my passion. By studying it at university, I quickly ended up helping out others and sharing my knowledge. I find great joy in helping others becoming better and reaching their goals, as well as introducing them to new things, in the same way I like it when it happens to me!
