Clive S.'s review on May 17, 2020

Jeremy took photos at our wedding and we were delighted with the finished product. Original cool shots. Very discrete on the day and you wouldn’t have known he was there. The online flip book album that we were able to share with all of our guests was brilliant and went down a storm. Highly recommended

Most photographers take good pictures, but many fail to convey the essence of the moment. Jay’s journalistic style captured the emotion of our day, the important things but also the small moments and details which are the real beauty of the occasion. His good-humoured style made the process of having our pictures taken a joy. He had also done his homework and taken the time to know our religious ceremonies and what to capture sensitively. Even the Priest was impressed by his discretion and commented how he wished other photographers did the same. He prefers black and white, but we had many in colour also. I looked at the pictures during the day and knew he had captured the mood perfectly. However, after when I saw what he did to them, his artistic expression that retained the authenticity of the moments but enhanced the tones and colours of each picture to preserve our most special of days left me overwhelmed. His understanding of light and how it shapes the way people view images is exceptional. Indian weddings are about colour and as stunning as his black and white work is his use of colour is exceptional. I really can’t recommend him highly enough.

We absolutely love the photographs Jeremy took at our wedding ,I can’t stop looking at them! He managed to capture the mood of the day with such ease and discretion, there was no fussing and formality and the images are so natural. I felt the black and white photos he took were timeless and flattering. As a photographer Jeremy was really discrete and on our big day you wouldn’t have known he was there. It really is super to have this special record of the day which reflects the intimacy of occasion and attention to detail that I haven’t seen in more conventional wedding photographs. We would highly recommend him.

WG Wedding Photography is characterised by our discretion and our attention to the details that make your day special. A photojournalism approach to record your wedding in a non staged, un-forced way creating images that capture the joy of the day rather than a series of family combinations. We work with you to create the images that you require to record your day and capture the joy and emotion of the occasion. Coming from an editorial and magazine/advertising background and spending a good proportion of the year photographing Fieldsports and travel projects my work has a style and edge that stands separate form the mainstream. Please contact us to discuss your day and how you see it being recorded. Please note that while traditional albums can be produced I do also off the facility to have an online virtual flip book album which is sharable to your friends and family. Examples of these can be seen on our website under BOOKS Please note that this album is from a field sports project and not a wedding but does demonstrate my photographic style.

Questions & answers

What process do you go through when starting with a new customer?
To be able to record your day in the most appropriate way I need to get to know the couple a little. There is a process of question and answers which I find is the easiest and quickest way to establish your likes and dislikes an what you want. I also find that be asking you questions it also helps you to focus on exactly what you want by possibly asking you to think about things you may not have before. Ultimately this preparation stage is about you having confidence that I fully understand what you want and we both are clear about what is going to be delivered and how we will go about achieving that.
What education or training is most relevant to your work?
I have been in the Design, Advertising and Photography industry for over thirty years and I am proud to say Im still learning. I get as excited today about a shoot as I did when I started and I remain my biggest critic.
Do you have tips or advice for someone hiring a pro in your line of work?
Talk to them, ask questions and talk about ideas. You have to be completely happy with your choice of photographer for your day and only by talking to them and getting a feeling if they are on the same page and have the same vision for the images as you. Once you do and you know you have chosen well you can relax and focus on your day and not worry about the images. I always produce examples of work for prospective clients to look at as if im not comfortable with their requirements I will tell them.
What questions should customers have ready before speaking to pros about their project?
I always ask clients to look at my work and ask them selves if that is the way they wish to be shown. These pictures have to last a lifetime so you need to choose a photographer who's natural style is in line with yours. Have examples of styles you like ready so you can show them. Also show examples of what you do like.
What are some good examples of past customers?
Lucy & Paul got married in Devon and had a wonderful day. It was clear from my meetings with them that they and members of their family were all involved in the planning of the day and the production of various parts. For this reason their album had to capture lots of the individual details that together came to make their day what it was. There were a few standard group shots as to be expected but more than that were the flowers, the cake, the hand made place cards and order of service cards. the vintage car used on the day and so on. All these details were personal to them and everything had a relevance.
How did you first get into this line of work?
Many many years ago I was asked by a work colleague in London if I would cover his wedding. I did agreeing that I would shot it in my normal style and that he had to help me develop the films (yes it was in the age of actual film) afterwards. The day was cold, wet, so windy we nearly lost the bride (she was tiny and the dress was big) yet we found a space at the church and reception to get the images. Luckily the church had a grand entrance and all the formals were shot there and I luckily had an assistant to hold an umbrella so I was the only one to get wet. It was such a happy day and was actually made even more special by the weather and the massive storm that was knocking down trees all around us.
