About Elizabeth Waters Music Teacher

Currently studying under Clare Thompson at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance 2015-2019. I'm working towards my Bachelor of Music Degree. Music has always been a part of my life. Initially I started learning the piano when I was six, I continued with that until I received grade eight, and I still maintain a very high standard of playing. Soon after I started learning the piano I started playing the violin and quickly grew to love the violin and the music it can produce. To begin my growth as a musician I played in the local strings group in Ripon, as I got older I moved into more advanced string orchestras, such as Harrogate Youth String Orchestra. This also allowed me to play in the Harrogate Youth Symphony Orchestra which I lead in my last year. To further my music education I studied A level music at St.Aidens CE School in Harrogate, I joined the Symphony orchestr lead it in my final year. I was also fortunate enough to play the Bach double concerto with the accompaniment of the orchestra. Other orchestral experience includes North Yorkshire County Orchestra from 2012-2015 which was conducted by Simon Wright, which in my final year I was able to co-lead. I have also played in many amateur orchestras such as the Harrogate Symphony Orchestra, the St. Cecilia Orchestra and the London City Orchestra. As well as orchestral experience I have much experience as a chamber musician. During my time at St.Aidans I was part of a string quartet. This quartet gave me many performing opportunities and we entered MFY (music for youth) in 2012. We got to the second stage and performed in Birmingham's Concert Hall. We also competed in Ripon Young Musician of the year and won our class two years in a row. I competed in Ripon Young Musician as a soloist in 2012 in the two instruments class which I also won. As well as learning about music I have always been interested in teaching and so have attended many violin masterclasses since attending Trinity Conservatoire. I have also had many music teachers over my years of study and so have lots of knowledge on different styles and approaches to teaching music. I taught at North Yorkshire's Junior County department last year. I got to teach so many students and I found it so rewarding. I'm very well equipped for teaching the violin, viola, piano and aural skills/music theory.
