Questions & answers

What should customers know about your pricing? (E.g. estimates, discounts, fees, package pricing)
I will always charge a price that I think is fair, and also as I have few overheads am likely to charge less than competitors. However if a client is on a budget then this is all up for discussion.
What process do you go through when starting with a new customer?
I would first like to determine the style and type of video the client is looking for. Then I would be interested in discussing the file types and sizes and how I would receive them; as there are a number of options. I would then go on to discuss the time frame that the client has and when they want the completed video.
What education or training is most relevant to your work?
I studied a Film Production Degree at University, specialising in editing and received a 1st Class Honours.
Do you have tips or advice for someone hiring a pro in your line of work?
I personally think it is really important that someone has professionally worked in the industry for a number of years, and worked directly with clients and is able to understand their needs and advise them accordingly. As I mention in my bio - I have been professionally editing for over 3 years and have had many high profile clients I have had to work with directly.
What questions should customers have ready before speaking to pros about their project?
What is my availability and time frame, also what file types I can work with.
What are some good examples of past customers?
Boots, Sony, Leicester City Football Club, NHS
Describe a recent project that went well. Scope? How long did it take?
I recently worked with a high profile private school in the South of the UK, I edited for them a promotional, interview based video - which was signed off without any further changes. They were very pleased with the comments I chose form the interviews, and with the style, pace and music.
How did you first get into this line of work?
I've had a passion for film making since I was 14, and was trained while as school by a previous BBC News Editor.
