Hiring a Bidvine Welder

Welding is a fabrication method which is all about joining thermoplastics or metals via coalescence. It is achieved by melting the parts that are to be welded together and then adding a filler material in order to create a weld pool which becomes a very sturdy joint when cooled.

Welding is different to soldering and brazing as it does not involve melting of the initial components, instead, the material between the components is melted so that a strong bond is formed between them.

Welding is not an easy task and requires ample skill. Furthermore, several safety precautions are also needed during welding in order to avoid fumes, eye damage, shocks, burns, etc. Welding is a dangerous procedure. Even professional welders take adequate precautionary measures such as using dark glasses, welding helmets, welding gloves, etc.

Generally, welding would be an industrial process. But it is used in many other areas including welding on the job location, underwater, and even in outer space. It is an essential part of virtually all manufacturing processes. It is the binding element that helps many businesses keep going when their machines break and they can’t get the necessary replacement parts quickly.

Welding has its uses in every type of industry regardless of whether it is small or big. Automobile, forestry, mining, construction, as well as heavy machinery related trades need skilled welders that are talented and creative in welding on their side so that they can thrive in their business.

Frequently Asked Questions

What metals can be welded?

Following are some common metals that can be welded:

Stainless Steel: Arc welding (stick, MIG, TIG) is used to weld stainless steel. It results in higher cost.

Aluminium: TIG welding is mostly used to weld aluminium. Other types of welding such as MIG welding can also be used. For smaller projects, stick aluminium welding is also a good option.

Copper: Gas Metal Arc Welding and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding are the two welding types used for copper. While manual metal arc welding can also be used, it usually results in poor quality.

Cast Iron: Cast iron has higher silicon and carbon content, and is not as ductile as other metals. Oxyacetylene welding is a suitable option for this metal.

Magnesium: Magnesium is lightweight, easy to cast, and absorbs vibration. Since it has similar melting temperature as Aluminum, TIG and MIG welding can be used for this metal.

What are the different types of Welding?

Following are the different types of welding:

Stick welding: Stick welding is an old school type of welding. Not only is it relatively cheap, it is pretty simple as well.

MIG welding: MIG welding is another easy type of welding. In fact, it is considered as one of the easiest types because, in MIG welding, the rod shortens and does not have to be fed as with stick welding.

TIG welding: TIG welding is harder to master than the stick or MIG welding. It is considered as one of the more difficult welding types to learn. It is also usually more expensive.

Gas Welding: Gas welding is an old school welding type. It is used a lot for automotive exhaust applications. Acetylene and Oxygen is the most common setup for a gas welding kit.

Plasma Arc welding: Plasma arc welding is one of the most expensive types of welding. It is used where high precision is required e.g. aerospace applications.
