Piano Lessons
Robin F.'s review on May 10, 2020

Both my children (ages 10 and 7) had piano lessons with Pan. These lessons quickly became the highlight of their week! Under Pan's tutelage, my children grew in confidence, skill, and enthusiasm. Highly recommended!

Piano Lessons
Ana S.'s review on May 08, 2020

My son has been having piano lessons with Pan for a year now and he has learnt so much. He picks the songs he likes and wants to learn to play and in no time he masters them so well. It is wonderful listening to him playing. Pan is dedicated and passionate about music and teaching it and the result is that my son looks forward to each music lesson every week. Great communication with both the student and the parent. Highly recommend Pan to any child who wants to learn music and playing an instrument.

Saxophone Lessons
Shannon T.'s review on May 16, 2020

I took jazz alto and tenor saxophone lessons with Pan Liang around 2016 (both solo and ensemble classes) as a complete newbie. Pan Liang is a patient teacher who tries hard to understand his students' needs and interests and to uncover their learning difficulties in order to help them develop as musicians. More importantly, he encourages students to find their own musical 'voice' or tone. His passion for his craft is self-evident once you get to know him, especially when he shares and talks about his favourite artists and records. If you're just starting out like me, you can't go wrong with Pan Liang as a mentor. Highly recommended.

Saxophone Lessons
Jun W.'s review on May 05, 2020

I took both individual and group Jazz alto-saxophone lessons from Pan Liang for a few months when I first started out playing the saxophone. He is extremely patient and detail oriented in his teachings. The lessons are structured from the very basic parts of the saxophone, and embouchure to the more advance Jazz progression and improvising in the later lessons. The individual lessons is to walk you through Jazz, how to improvise, improving your embouchure and techniques. He will also teach you exercises to improve your playing in terms of long tones and assist you in finding the right sound for your saxophone via recommendation of different reeds and mouthpieces, as he believes in getting the best/right sound without spending too much on the equipment. The group lesson was to help us coordinate when playing as a quartet, how to listen out for one another and to identify the strength of playing in a group setting. My saxophone playing skills drastically improved over time with Pan Liang's lesson. I highly recommend him as a teacher because I know he's committed to his students' improvement and music playing in terms of skills and techniques.

Saxophone Lessons
Janice M.'s review on May 03, 2020

Mr.Ho has been teaching my 12 year old daughter the saxophone, and my 8 year old daughter the piano since the beginning of 2019. We are thrilled with their progress and they enjoy lessons with him. As a mother who takes a keen interest in teaching styles, I have found that Mr. Ho understands children. He uses a different style for my 8 year old and for my 12 year old. My 8 year old would tell you that her lessons are fun - Mr Ho uses games, rhymes, characters and stories. With my 12 year old, ‘sounding good’ and ‘getting it right’ is really important to her, so he has adapted how he is teaching to make sure she feels these things, and remains motivated. Mr.Ho is a highly valued member of a school community where the teaching is TRULY child led. He is immersed in an approach that places as much value on the experience as the outcome. I would recommend Mr.Ho to anyone who is looking for a truly committed music teacher who helps people prepare for exams or just play for pleasure. I would be happy to be contacted if you want to speak to me for more information. Janice Moore jrmoore71@gmail.com

Meet Pan Liang Ho

Music colours our lives in so many wonderful ways. As a music teacher, I aim to teach my students not only how to enhance their musical talents but to also appreciate every rhythm and cadence. I’m currently a music teacher in a private school in Feltham where I run the school choir and orchestra. I’m used to teaching different ages and my students at the school range from 7-18 years. Additionally, I offer private lessons to interested adults and children in piano, voice, saxophone, and lyre. I hold a Masters degree in Arts Education (Music) from Germany and also certification with Honours in Jazz Saxophone with Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and have a decade’s worth of performance and teaching experience. In all my teaching sessions, I believe in making the process of learning music imaginative and fun so my students stay engaged. It’s not just playing an instrument but tapping into emotions, understanding notes, and truly experiencing music for better expression. I believe in the therapeutic qualities of music and love watching my students when they ‘get’ a piece. I often emphasise to my students that when we "play an instrument", do we actually “play”, experiment, and have fun along the way, or is it purely about reproducing the sounds according to the score? No matter how old or young my students are, I believe in bringing ‘play’ into my lessons, encouraging them to explore and interpret music in their own way while also getting a better grasp of the techniques. To me, what counts is that my students genuinely enjoy their lessons and develop their unique skills by being inspired to practice on their own to move to the next level. Progress is different for everyone and I coax my students to refine their skills by experimenting and eventually composing their own music so it naturally flows out of them instead of being forced. I accommodate a range of music interests including genres like classical, jazz, pop, reggae, blues, rock, and ethnic/cultural. Though I’m disciplined, I inject plenty of creativity while making sure that my students are challenged enough to flex their skills and become accomplished players. I consider my rates to be very fair – to get started the first online lesson has a 30-minute trial session. I also offer discounts on block sessions so customers that prepay for 10 classes get a 20% discount. Whether you’re a beginner keen to learn an instrument or you already play but want to build your repertoire, do get in touch for a chat about your goals. I will explain more about my sessions and schedule during our chat. Thanks and I look forward to helping you explore the wonderful world of music!

Questions & answers

What should customers know about your pricing? (E.g. estimates, discounts, fees, package pricing)
Email me favourite song and I will send you back a short video on how you can learn to play it in 4 weeks time!
What process do you go through when starting with a new customer?
I love to have a chat with the students before starting the lessons because I would like to know their learning preferences and also the music they like so I can design the lessons to inspire them.
Do you have tips or advice for someone hiring a pro in your line of work?
It's important to be able to connect well with your teacher in terms of communication and be inspired by him/ her to enjoy playing, practising and improving your craft.
What are some good examples of past customers?
Please feel free to check the reviews posted by my students here.
How did you first get into this line of work?
I have been playing music professionally since 2000. As a music educator, I have been teaching in various private music schools in Singapore before relocating to London. I compose, perform and teach. After encountering music in a deeply healing way in 2015, I am inspired to bring joy and the therapeutic qualities of music to students. I believe that there is a musician in each of us waiting to emerge. I get great joy being able to create the right environment through for my lessons to bring out the inner musician in my students. When this happens, music is played with such joy and the notes becomes colours for the students to paint with using their instrument.
