About Nicole Booth Strength & Conditioning

I have over 13 years of experience in Sports, Fitness and health. I work as a sports and exercise science lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire, specialising in Strength and Conditioning, Biomechanics and Injury Prevention. I have a MSc Sports and Exercise Science; BSc (hons) Strength and Conditioning; and I am due to start my PhD (which was postponed during covid). I am also a fully qualified Powerlifting coach (British Powerlifting), Olympic weightlifting coach and referee (British weightlifting), personal trainer and experienced registered yoga teacher (ERYT-200). In addition to my role as a Lecturer, I am also a Tutor and Assessor for British Weightlifting coaching Qualifications. I have a keen interest and extensive experience in working with athletes in the following disciplines and sports: • Olympic Weightlifting • Dance (any styles, I originally came from a dance background from a very young age) • Climbing (Trad, bouldering, dry tooling, Ice climbing, speed climbing etc.) • Kayaking • Windsurfing • Wakeboarding • Skiing and Snowboarding • Expedition or Adventure Trip Participants (polar, altitude, multi-sport etc) • Rugby Union and Sevens • Ice Hockey • Basketball I am also interested in offering Yoga one to one sessions or classes (face to face or remote), as this is also an area I really enjoy teaching.

Personal Training
Kirsty H.'s review on Jan 01, 2018

Fantastic trainer, really supportive. Nicole's passion, dedication and knowledge in fitness, health and training is clear from day one. I have known Nicole for a long time and had training from her earlier when she first started doing training about 10 years ago and again more recently. She always designs programmes and sessions to you and is really cautious with injuries. I have had some negative experiences with other trainers between that time and them not taking my injuries into account or just not understanding them. Thank you Nicole will certainly be having even more sessions soon.

Personal Training
Gary J.'s review on Jan 01, 2018

Nicole has been fantastic. I used to attend kettlebell classes about 5 years ago in Poulton, which was really tough and fun. I have recently hired her for one to ones to help me with my basketball after an injury and prepare me to do tough mudder / spartan for next year. She is incredibly knowledgable, helped my knee injury recovery quicker than expected. Introduced me to a mix of weight training, hill sprints, body weight training and building me up to plyometrics. I can not thank her enough, I am able to play basketball again with my work colleagues during the week and know what I need to be doing at the gym between sessions, thanks to her 6 week programming.

Questions & answers

What education or training is most relevant to your work?
BSc (hons) Strength and Conditioning Strength and Conditioning Accreditation (From UKSCA or NSCA) Level 2 British Weightlifting Coaching Level 2 Powerlifting Coaching Level 3 Personal Training
Do you have tips or advice for someone hiring a pro in your line of work?
Don't be afraid to enquire about their experience and there qualifications. There are a lot of unqualified coaches and trainers who also have no experience, but watch a lot of videos on Youtube.
What questions should customers have ready before speaking to pros about their project?
Previous or current injuries and illnesses Goals Availability (How time much can they commit to their training per week and when) Location
How did you first get into this line of work?
When working as an outdoor instructor at 18 years old, I volunteered to help out an onsite healthy living camp (camp for children who were morbidly obese with a range of medical conditions). This camp was residential and it really shocked me. I didn't realise how fortunate I was to be raised in a household that promoting health living an active lifestyle, along with my passion for my hobbies of dancing, kayaking and climbing. I then decided to train up as a personal trainer and continually up skilled, developed my experience and eventually went to university as I started to work with more athletes.
