About Make It To The Mat
I started practicing yoga when I suffered from lower back pain in my twenties and have never had problems with my back since. I stuck with yoga as a regular form of exercise, because - in addition to keeping me fit and flexible - it has always improved my mood. After time on the yoga mat I tend to feel better, more relaxed and at ease then at the start of a session. Currently run yoga classes all within a mile of each other. Two in SE1 area and one in SE17 1)The Artworks ( Elephant & Castle SE17 1AY) 2) The Bridge Gym (London Bridge SE1 0NQ) and 3) Setchell TRA hall in Hazel Way, Bermondsey. SE1 5XN. So if students want to swap between different venues and dates they are able to do so with the one pass. Classes taught: Beginners Ashtanga, Yin yoga, Senior yoga. Yoga for Desk worker's, Postnatal yoga, Kid's yoga.

I have been attending Liz's yoga class on a Wednesday evening for about 6 months now. The class is informal, male and female of differing ages and varied abilities. Diverse and friendly is how I would describe it. The class is nominally Astanga and Liz takes us confidently through the vinyasa and poses, demonstrating stopping and explaining everything so we can all achieve together. Liz's approach is flexible and she will introduce props and poses from other yoga styles to facilitate our learning. This might not suit Astanga purists, but I find the mixing and matching both challenging and gentle enough to suit my style of practise which has certainly evolved since I found Liz's class. If you want to learn yoga with a experienced and knowledgeable teacher in a relaxed and friendly environment then this class could be for you. It is for me.
Liz's classes are always really positive and sunny. They're full of great direction to get you safely and correctly in to poses. She'll tailor the class around any injuries you may suffer from and often has suggestions to help your recovery. She does all of this while creating a really friendly laid back atmosphere in the class. Liz has lots of fantastic ideas and techniques that I take with me wherever I practice, they really help you understand the pose and the right alignment. Whoever I may be practising with, her advice stays with me and I know I'm safely getting the most out of the pose. I can't recommend her highly enough!
I really enjoyed Liz's classes, and so did my baby. Absolutely fantastic for mind and body, and so much fun being with the other parents and kids in the class. I looked forward to going every week.
Liz is a great teacher and takes time to personalise the exercises so we all get the most benefit for our bodies . Its a great class and very enjoyable.
