About Luke D’Aulerio

I am a young and enthusiastic freelance drummer and teacher based in Birmingham. I began playing the drums in secondary school and have 10 years drumming experience playing a variety of music. I was lucky to be accepted onto the Birmingham Junior Conservatoire course aged 16 to study jazz with several world class musicians, as well as complete an A- Level in Music. Following this I moved to Leeds to begin university, where I achieved a First Class honours degree in Jazz Drum Kit. I have an abundance of performing experience spanning across several styles of music. Some of my notable performances in jazz have been the London Jazz Festival, as well as being part of the the 'Emerging Talent Tour' set up by the Jazz Promotion Network. As well as this I have experience of playing jazz to a more commercial audience, through weddings, corporate events and birthday parties. I also have a lot of experience playing popular music having played in a number of bands throughout the years. Some notable achievements are playing festivals including Live at Leeds and Liverpool Sound City, having music played on BBC Introducing, and also having music featured on Tom Robinson's (BBC Radio 6 Music) Fresh on the Net. I have taught music and drum kit in several instances. Whilst in Leeds, I taught at Chapel FM, a newly refurbished arts space designed to provide music tuition to disadvantaged children. Here I taught teenagers both in group situations as well as one to one tuition on the drums. I’ve also taught at the North Leeds Music Centre. This teaching involved teaching children aged 3-7 basic percussion skills. As well as this, I also taught group drum kit lessons to students aged 7-60 years old at the centre. I have also just started teaching on the Jazzlines Ensemble. Jazzlines provides young musicians from Birmingham and the surrounding areas with the opportunity to develop their ensemble playing skills and learn more about jazz and improvisation. Key Skills/ Qualifications - 10 Years Drumming Experience - Enhanced DBS Checked - Proficient at reading drum notation - Extensive experience performing and recording drums in range of styles and band settings - Experience recording and performing drums to backing/ click tracks. - First Class Honours Degree in Jazz Drum Kit - Grade 8 Distinction in Drum Kit (Trinity College) - Experience with teaching several exam boards (Trinity College, Rockschool) - A-Level Music (A*) - Grade 5 Theory (Merit)
