Music adds immense joy and every major moment in our life has a musical score. From listening to sad songs after heartbreak to snappy scores that can be infectious, music adds a significant dimension to our lives. As a singing and music teacher, it is my goal to inspire my students and share a deep love of music. I’m a versatile tutor and specialise in jazz, pop and musical theatre. I also teach music theory, GCSE Music, mandolin, ukulele and beginner piano. Age is no bar – I have taught vocal development classes to children from 6 years to 18, as well as adults. With over 20 years of teaching experience, I have a music PGCE as well as a current, up to date DBS certificate and am comfortable teaching students of any ability. My main aim is to coach my students to gain a better understanding of their voice: their limits and potential, and to help them develop their own sound and gain the confidence to perform in front of an audience. I pay attention to breathing techniques and encourage students to explore their voice and develop a ‘palate’ of sounds they can use when singing to create their own unique sound, by adding colour, textures and emotion to their performances. My favourite part of teaching is when a student manages to do something that they have been diligently practicing to achieve but that has eluded them until that point. Those moments and expressions of sheer surprise and joy are priceless and such a big reward for all their effort and persistence; I thrive on this and it and makes me so passionate about what I do. Throughout the sessions, I ensure my students are relaxed and know how to tap into their confidence and strive to excel in their own way. My classes are all unique based on each student’s individual talent and ability as well as aim. I help with all aspects of learning and take care of sorting materials, assigning lyric sheets, and inspiring them to put aside their fears and discover their true potential. I teach different styles to get them out of their comfort zone so we can discover together what are their strong points and what areas need work. Nothing is easy but through patience, persistence, and passion, my students discover that their dreams can come true and nothing makes me more happier than watching them flourish and accomplish their objectives. My rates are some of the best in the industry and I’m open to offering discounts depending on the circumstances.
