Hi, I'm Jacky Matthews from JM Professional and Career Coaching Services. I help to transform skills and improve confidence making work more rewarding. I have 2 main passions; 1. Helping people to find the confidence to secure a job that they really enjoy, find rewarding and reflects their true ability. 2. I'm on a mission to improve the skills of managers, so that they can build a fantastic team and retain all their best staff. My work involves; * 121 coaching for managers to develop their skills * 121 coaching to help find the job of your dreams * Online course called 'Change your job with confidence' * Management training Work shouldn’t feel like work, it should be motivating and rewarding, right? Right and it can be, however, all too often people say; ‘I hate my job, but I don’t know what else to do or how to do it’. The answer is to have your own personal supporter, helper and assistant with years of experience in recruiting and developing people. In other words, a Career Coach, but if this is the sort of thing they are experts in, why doesn’t everyone have one? Well, there are always reasons not to go down this route. Often people think Coaches are only for top executives, which was probably true 10 years ago, but not now. There are many more coaches available and they are much more reasonably priced and not purely the domain of CEO’s. However, we still often hear the following reasons not to have a coach; • It’s too expensive and I can’t afford it • I don’t have time, I’m too busy or it’s the wrong time just now • I can do things for myself; I don’t think it would work for me, who is JM Coaching anyway? • I might not get the results I want, and it will be a waste of money, isn’t it just a chat? These reasons can sometimes hide a deeper fear; could we prefer to be in our comfort zone and fear what could actually be possible with a little help and direction? It is not true of everyone, but many of us prefer security, familiarity and perceived safety. It is one of the reasons why the recent pandemic has had such an impact on many of us. However, if recent events have taught us anything, it is that change is inevitable. The fear of the unknown has stopped many people from following their dreams and they remain in jobs or careers that are unrewarding and are merely a monthly wage. So let’s put aside the reasons for not having a career coach and see what support you could have to follow your dreams and find a job that you love and makes you want to get up in the morning; • You get help that is personal to you, the coach will change their approach and what is covered to suit your individual circumstances. • Dedicated time to focus on you and what you want to achieve. For the full time you are with your coach, the focus is on you with no external interruptions. You might want to; o Talk about new ideas and get feedback o Look deeper into any self-imposed barriers or confidence issues holding you back o Unwrap the reasons for staying in a job you dislike • Support to make informed decisions about what you really want, what career path you want to take and what development you want to carry out. • Support to have stand-out CV’s, cover letters, applications that get you the interview, and support and practice of interview skills to help you secure the dream job. • Identify your key skills and uncover your key strengths to maximise your potential. A careers coach won’t find you a job, they can’t prevent rejection, but they can provide you with personal insight, confidence, encouragement and inspiration. They can also provide you with the best chance of reaching your dreams, so don’t settle for anything less.
