About Your Yoga

Traditional Yoga Classes Yoga is the removal of the changing states of the mind. Once the mind is controlled one can perceive the true self. Patanjali Yoga Sutras: I, 1-2 Are you hankering for transformation? Classical Hatha Yoga Hatha yoga is an ancient spiritual practice with its roots in the Vedic culture of the East. The Sanskrit term Haṭha can be translated to “forceful” or “strong” which indicates the powerful transformative benefits the practice can bring. Hatha can also be translated as “sun” (ha) and “moon” (tha), which refers to the practices ability to create a balance between the body, mind and the spiritual self. The ultimate goal of Hatha yoga is to align and strengthen the body and to control and calm the mind in preparation for meditation and self-realization. Hatha yoga is thus a science which uses the body to support the individual's evolutionary process so they can attain their higher nature. Traditional Hatha yoga includes eight practices which are the Yama (Good moral conduct), Niyama (Self-discipline) Asana (Postures), Pranayama (Breath control), Pratyahara (Detachment), Dharana (concentration) Dhyana (Meditation) and Samadhi ( A state of super consciousness) Saradiya Rasa My personal search for answers, meaning and fulfilment brought me to the practice of yoga. In my experience yoga is a path of personal transformation which enables you to purify and align the body and mind in order to reconnect with your higher self and the Supreme Self. After I studied the ancient yoga text Bhagavad Gita (The Song of God), 12 years ago, I decided to dedicate myself to follow the philosophy and practices of Bhakti Yoga. Bhakti yoga the yoga of devotion focuses on awakening our true eternal spiritual identity and loving relationship with God, through the process of meditation and service. My pursuit to understand and connect with the cultural roots of the yoga led me to live, travel and work in India for two years. It’s also inspired me to live in an ashram to learn meditation practices as kirtan and study yoga scriptures as the Yoga Sutras. My experiences inspired me to follow a yogic lifestyle–in which one strives to live in harmony and to share the yogic path with others. I completed my training in classical hatha yoga in an ashram in Rishikesh in 2011. Thereafter I have gained seven years of teaching experience, which has allowed me to develop and refine my teaching skills. Classes offered I offer hatha yoga classes which focus on the practice of asana (poses and movements), pranayama (breath control), dhyana (meditation) and relaxation. During the classes, students are guided to consciously and slowly move through a series of asanas which stretches, strengthens and stimulates the body. Throughout the session, students are encouraged to synchronise their breath and their movements. This practice helps to move one’s awareness internal and to remain present. Practising yoga in this way, focusing the mind on the breath while keeping the awareness within the body, ensures that you gain the greatest physical and physiological benefit from your practice. After such practices, one feels reconnected, grounded and revitalised. Furthermore, it helps the mind to become clear, calm and peaceful –which enables one to start perceiving the true self. I specialise in teaching yoga to beginners as I enjoy supporting individuals develop their yoga practices and progress on their personal path. I am also a qualified philosophy, religion and ethics teacher and can offer guided meditation and yoga philosophy classes on request. I approached Saradiya for yoga lessons because I needed help with strengthening my back and core as I was having some back pain. The sessions were very helpful, she personalised them by giving me particular stretches for my individual problem, as well as giving me some basic exercises to practice daily. I have been doing them for some months now and my back is healed! Saradiya s soothing voice and spiritual approach to yoga mean you get a deep meditative experience as well as a healthier body. I would recommend her to anyone!

Where to begin. Saradiya, never have you met a softer, kinder Sargent. She had the ability to make me comfortable while motivating me to perfect my poses. And on top of this she is not just an instructor, but a spiritual teacher. A Guru. I will never forget the path I’ve walked with this inspirational Yogi!

I've been lucky enough to try yoga classes from round the world but my class with Saradiya stands out by far. Helping the blood flow in my tense back to great relief! Saradiya was able to work with a group of mixed ages and abilities. Was even able to share some helpful nutrition and dietary advice on vegetarian foods. Great experience for mind, body and soul. Would definitely recommend her classes.

Saradiya Rasa Dasi's classes opened up traditional Hatha Yoga to me and became a source of deep nourishment. The authenticity of her practice is evident in both the impression felt after a class, and in the kind-heartedness of her personality, which indicates the internal effectiveness. I feel really fortunate to have had the opportunity to be in her classes.

Saradiya's teaching style is dynamic and strong, with the focus on gaining both physical and metaphysical strength. Her classes allows for the right balance between daring to try out new things, and maintaining a flow of mindful movement, leaving one feeling alive and inspired. She is a very compassionate teacher, and her classes display her passion to serve the Highest good in all. Monet Viljoen (PhD), South Africa, Integrative life coach.

Saradiya is a true gem, one of the best yoga teachers I've had a privilege to have met. One can sense she puts her entire heart into teaching, she is very much aware of the body limits of every student and instructs accordingly. Diverse sets of asanas will help you gain strength and flexibility but what is most important, at the end of every class you will find yourself feeling grounded and fulfilled. I met Saradiya 6 years ago at one of her yoga classes run through SPYS - the Spirituality and Yoga society at Stellenbosch University. It was my sanctuary. I became a better version of myself- not only because of the benefits of yoga, but because I was inspired by Saradiya's way of being. I became vegetarian and started meditation. Saradiya is an inspiring yogi.
