Nicola f.'s review on May 14, 2019

As mother of the groom I was anxious to find the right photographer for the wedding. From start to finish James worked with the bride and groom and took on board what they wanted. This is evident in the photographs that he has taken. I asked him on the day to go to another venue with the couple to take photos before the reception. Very professional, accommodating and a true gentleman. James completely captured the mood of the day. Thank you so much James very much appreciated and definitely will recommend you to friends and family

Sarah P.'s review on Jan 07, 2019

Had a family photoshoot done and could not fault the service and quality of the finished photographs as well as the price for the photograph. Photographer was professional, patient and worked well with my 5 year old son, keeping him entertained therefore making the experience fun for him rather then boring. Would definitely use again and recommend to friends and family.

Jake S.'s review on Jan 07, 2019

Absolutely fantastic experience having a photo shoot with James. Right from the start he made us feel at ease in front of the camera and we really had fun during the whole shoot. The pictures he sent us were exactly what we wanted and more, he has made it hard for us to pick a favourite! Overall, a really enjoyable day with brilliant results which we will treasure for years to come. We will be booking him again before he gets too busy!

Meet James

I am James Robinson, I am a self-employed full time professional photographer for my own business Adept Imagery. You have probably looked at a dozen different photographers and heard all the buzzwords 'unobtrusive' 'relaxed', there are hundreds, so what makes me unique? Well, I served in the military for 12 years leaving with a conduct record of exemplary, I am always immaculately turned out to any wedding or event I attend, I won't turn up to your wedding in chinos with a polo shirt because its disrespectful and reflects poorly on me as a professional, I will arrive on time (Usually I am an hour early because if you are early you can't be late!) I will have a good laugh with your guests and you can expect me to be kind and courteous, I pride myself on my professionalism and I am a full-time wedding photographer. Wedding photography is not a side hustle for me therefore I have invested a lot of time, money and myself into my business and I am absolutely determined to give the best possible experience for all of my past, current, and future customers. I am Accredited by City and Guilds and I hold the following qualifications in photography; City&Guilds Accredited Programme workshop diploma in Wedding and Portrait Photography City&Guilds Accredited Programme workshop diploma in Advanced Wedding and Portrait Photography City&Guilds Accredited Programme workshop diploma in Digital Manipulation NCON Level 3 Award in Photography Ofqual 600/9343/2 NCON Level 3 Award in Graphic Design (Pixel-Based Image Manipulation) Ofqual 500/8846/4 I am a technical perfectionist, I take what I do extremely seriously and I believe that you can't achieve perfection without the best equipment, that is why I have invested heavily in my equipment so that I am not limited by it, I triple backup all of my work so there is no chance that any coverage I do can be lost in a freak accident and I also have my own printing facilities. I have a variety of options available and I am always available for face to face consultations (in fact I encourage all of my clients to meet me face to face) I would love to hear from you and we can work together to make sure that your day is covered and that the memories and the photographs you receive you will be elated with for many years to come. Questions & answers

What should customers know about your pricing? (E.g. estimates, discounts, fees, package pricing)
Ceremony coverage - Sun-Thur £245, Fri & Sat £295 (I do not offer this package for advanced booking between May-Sept) Ceremony & Reception coverage - Sun-Thur £445, Fri & Sat £495 Full day coverage - Oct-April £695, May-Sept Sun-Thur £695, Fri & Sat £795 I do not charge travel expenses. I do not retain copyright. All images come retouched. All packages come with a personalised USB. All images come inside a link access online gallery which you can share with your family and friends with unlimited digital downloads.
What process do you go through when starting with a new customer?
From the initial contact phase I tend to encourage people to meet face to face for a coffee (Large black Americano) as this helps build a working rapport between us, We talk about everything on offer and the specific requirements of the couple. From there all of the details are finalised within emails and all of the details of your package are drawn up in a legally binding contract, Once the contract is signed by both of us I ask for a £100 deposit and the remainder of the balance is due 4 weeks before the event.
What education or training is most relevant to your work?
Prior to making the 'leap' to being a full-time wedding photographer I studied under a number of full-time professionals, I worked in a studio in Bournemouth for 6 weeks as well as attending a number of courses to gain professionally recognised qualifications. After doing all this I shot a number of weddings for free to gain vital experience. I also think that being ex military has given me the coinfidence and the assertiveness to be able to deal with people on a wedding day (This is particularly important when it comes to group shots). Being ex-Army has also given me a massive advantage when it comes to situational awareness, something that I regard as a critical component in wedding photography. Being able to read a situation it extremely important in being able to capture amazing candids!
Do you have tips or advice for someone hiring a pro in your line of work?
Get a credit card, Pay all of your wedding supplier deposits on your credit card. In the worst-case scenario of your wedding supplier not attending on the day it is much easier to reclaim your money from a credit card company than it is from your bank via a debit card, If you pay via bank transfer you will never recover the money.
What questions should customers have ready before speaking to pros about their project?
Always ask a professional wedding photographer about their contract, I only ever take deposit payments once my contract has been signed. This formalises an agreement between the two of us but also having a well-written contract makes any service you have paid for legally binding. The worst case of this I have ever seen over the course of my wedding photography career, One of my couples paid just over two thousand pounds for a caterer who never showed up on the day, The did not have a contract, just an email chain. Ask to see a public liability insurance certificate, It's just for peace of mind because accidents do happen.
What are some good examples of past customers?
I can't put my finger on a favourite customer because each wedding is its own unique experience, One of the reasons I love doing what I do is being surrounded by the positivity and the energy of each and every wedding day that I attend, Mingling with the guests, having fun and most importantly, immortalising the day through the art of my photography.
Describe a recent project that went well. Scope? How long did it take?
This is a really odd question for a wedding photographer to answer, every day has its own scale and set of timings and I tend to stay until my work is done! I have never and will never put a time limit on the coverage of a full wedding day.
How did you first get into this line of work?
I was in the last few years of my intended 12-year military career and I had seriously fallen out of love with engineering (Something I had been in my entire life). I wanted to pursue a career that I also enjoyed but I also had a burning desire to be self-employed. I can't put my finger on when I wanted to be a wedding photographer but I used the last 2 years of my Army career to shoot dozens of wedding for free, shadow other photographers, get qualified, I also worked in a studio for free for 6 weeks as well as undertaking a couple of thousand hours of studying in my own time and constantly practicing, All to make sure that when I went full time I could give my customers the best possible experience and value for their money.
