About Giorgia Manto

My name is Giorgia and I'm a 26 years old professional dancer and choreographer. I specialise in Swing dance (Lindy hop and Jazz roots) couple and solo. Currently I'm in London undertaking an MA in Dance Movement Psychotherapy. I also teach for different associations around London. However, I am looking to further my experience and your open position in teaching dance in a clinic appeals to me most. I am very interested in this position and I think I would be perfect for the role because of the following reasons: My approach to dance is founded upon both my own experiences and my education. While good technic is important to dance, freedom of expression is also critical and arguably what separates the ordinary from the extraordinary, think: Bob Fossey; Dean Collins; Eleanor Powell and Frankie Manning. I have an innate talent to teach people how to tap into their emotions, and chanell it through dance. After all Swing Dancing is an expression of joy and culture! The historical conditions in which the style of Swing dance was born into were significant. The social message of the time underpinning swing dance origins, remains relevant to today's society. I have 15 years training in dance in Modern Jazz, Hip Hop and Lindy Hop and Charleston. For six years I worked as a professional dancer, travelling throughout Europe (Paris, Heidelberg, Barcelona, Warsaw, … ). Furthermore I trained under expert choreographers and musicians. I also have 4 years experience as a dance teacher in Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz. Currently I'm part of a dance troupe in London, specialising in Afro- American vintage jazz dances lead from the famous Jazz Dancer Sharon Davis. I also recently danced professionally at the Royal Albert Hall. It would be fantastic to have the opportunity work with you and show you my passion and discipline for dance! Giorgia Manto
