About Ghulam Afzal Films

I’m a wedding and elopement filmmaker based in God’s County (West Yorkshire) but I have been lucky enough to travel all over the UK to film weddings for some amazing couples. I'm a hopeless romantic and I love capturing authentic, emotive films with storytelling at the heart of each film. For me it's about capturing those raw, candid moments and being able create a film full of serenity. I want to be able to create something that represents you as a couple and I am dedicated to capturing your day in a way to make memories that will be treasured for a lifetime and remembered for generations to come. My films are for couples who are full of heart and really appreciate a wedding film is not just a video but a representation of them. Every couple has a story worth sharing and being told in the most authentic way possible filled with soul and heart.

Questions & answers

What should customers know about your pricing? (E.g. estimates, discounts, fees, package pricing)
My collections start from £1000 but for me I don’t have “set packages”. The reason being no wedding is the same, every couple is unique and therefore I offer a bespoke service. I don’t charge per hour so you have peace of mind knowing I will be there from the morning during bridal/groom prep. This runs all the way until the evening party so you won’t have to worry about coverage or paying extra for additional coverage. I don’t have any hidden fees nor do I charge couples if they need to cancel as times are tough.
What process do you go through when starting with a new customer?
I always encourage couples to jump on a phone/video call. Due to COVID it’s difficult to meet people in person so a video call is the best way to go. That way we can have a chat, get to know each other more and also talk details. For me finding someone who’s the right fit for your wedding day is so important and this call really let’s you gauge whether we are a right fit for each other. I’m really passionate about what I do so for me this is key.
What education or training is most relevant to your work?
All my work is self taught but I take all my inspiration from Hollywood Movies, TV shows, Netflix and documentaries
Do you have tips or advice for someone hiring a pro in your line of work?
Always hire someone who’s style of work appeals and resonates with you. Then look at whether they can be the right fit for you on the wedding day. This can be done by picking up a phone/ video call. Someone could be amazing at what they do but if you find them annoying or you don’t feel they share your vision then it’s pointless hiring them to capture your wedding. Remember, your wedding is a once in a lifetime moment so make sure you hire someone who can capture the day how you envision it. You also get what you pay for, for me you’d rather lay a bit more and know you’re hiring someone who can do a good job and put your mind at ease. For the wedding day the only memory you’ll have is the photos and videos. The video will help you relive the emotions from the wedding day which is why it’s so important to hire the right person
What questions should customers have ready before speaking to pros about their project?
What their approach is like What style they go for Do they travel and charge for this What is their pricing What’s included in their pricing Do they have a contract How long until we receive the film
What are some good examples of past customers?
A recent COVID wedding where the couple and family were all so nice and accommodating. They went out of their way to ensure I had everything I needed to capture their day. For example, they made sure people moved out the way, someone was always stood next to my equipment, their hospitality was amazing and I got to capture their wedding day in a natural, documentary style
How did you first get into this line of work?
It’s something which I’ve always had a passion for. Making videos is something I did for fun and I thought why not try and pursue it as a career I’ve always been fascinated by Hollywood movies, tv shows and documentaries and the inspiration for my films comes from those sources

Our work with audio in our films is also extremely important in the postproduction process. We make sure the visuals, the music and the audio work together, to ensure that our films evoke the emotions and atmosphere of the day. We adopt a subtle ‘fly on the wall’ approach in order to capture the mo
