Design Bank Studios helps clients to make the most of their homes. ‘We spend the majority of our time indoors and for many of us home is where the heart is’ says Gemma Bennett, who runs the Malvern-based company. ‘Our homes, whether old or new, need to be welcoming, flexible and make the most of natural elements. I use design principles that are focused on promoting health and wellbeing, and transform homes to reconnect us with the outdoors.’ Gemma, combines her technical building and construction knowledge with interior design, to create homes that perfectly match her clients and their needs. My work is about getting to the crux of real-life issues, whether that’s improving access, opening up spaces or thinking about the way you live. It’s really important for me to step into a homeowner’s shoes and look at how we can improve their living space. For example, I re-designed a bungalow for a recently retired couple, producing 2D architectural layout drawings and obtaining planning permission to extend their home. The building was completely re-modelled, including a rear extension which has provided an open plan living and dining space flooded with natural light and framed views of the garden. With their home future-proofed, they look forward to a long and happy retirement in a home that perfectly matches their needs.
