Questions & answers

What should customers know about your pricing? (E.g. estimates, discounts, fees, package pricing)
£35 an hour or £30 an hour if buying a 15 lesson package.
What process do you go through when starting with a new customer?
Chat on the phone about their requirements, then have a free session to assess their playing and discuss a plan for their studies and goals. I usually bring suitable exercises to the first session after speaking on the phone, so teaching is tailored from the start.
What education or training is most relevant to your work?
Bachelor's in music from University of York Currently finishing Master's in composition at Royal Academy of Music. Grade 8 in piano and grade 8 in music theory. 4 years of experience tutoring all ages.
Do you have tips or advice for someone hiring a pro in your line of work?
Make sure the person fits your exact requirements and can engage well with the student. Finding someone with a real passion for music and especially for musical education is key to ensuring the student enjoys the lessons.
What questions should customers have ready before speaking to pros about their project?
Are you able to ensure our goals are met with these lessons? What is your previous experience at this level? How flexible are you in terms of your time and ability?
What are some good examples of past customers?
Enthusiastic students who love music or are open to trying new hobbies.
How did you first get into this line of work?
I have a real passion for music and especially the piano. Teaching piano is an incredibly rewarding experience and I began taking on private clients very soon after graduating university, about 4 years ago now.
