Zoe U.'s review on Nov 19, 2020

Claire did an amazing job with the Funeral flowers for My grandad's Funeral. She designed them exactly how we wanted and took the flowers directly to the venue so saved us any worries on the day. Really appreciated all your hard work, Thanks, Claire. From the Utting Family.

Holly S.'s review on Nov 19, 2020

Claire is lovely to work with. Very professional, responsive and punctual. Planned my wedding with Holiday Inn and CMA Events decorations were included in the package and I couldn’t have asked for a more friendly person to work with. Considering Covid regulations, Claire was amazing, she helped us with any issues or problems we had. On the day of the wedding Claire was incredible. The two rooms looked better than we could have ever imagined, everyone at the wedding commented that the rooms looked lovely. My handmade bouquets were incredible and looked like real flowers. I would not hesitate recommend Claire.

Questions & answers

What should customers know about your pricing? (E.g. estimates, discounts, fees, package pricing)
I always give my customers competitive prices. I charge the same for a wedding a corporate event or birthday party. The only cost that changes is the delivery charge and that is only to cover my fuel getting to your venue
What process do you go through when starting with a new customer?
We have an initial chat or I email my price list. If the customer has some ideas then I start by offering a quote for what they are requesting. When they are ready we can have a no-obligation meeting to discuss in more detail their requirements.
What education or training is most relevant to your work?
I am a qualified florist and have been trained in balloon artistry. I have also been working within this industry for over 20 years so have a lot of experience
Do you have tips or advice for someone hiring a pro in your line of work?
Talk to your professional. Explain what you think your vision may be and see how they can work with you. Dont be afraid to ask questions.
What questions should customers have ready before speaking to pros about their project?
How do you work on the day of the event? (is everything prepared onsite or is it prepared in the professionals premises and then transported?) What information do I need to give the professional (timings for the day, main contact at the venue, who is responsible for ensuring everything hired is ready for collection)
What are some good examples of past customers?
Customers that have a good open relationship with their professional, don't be afraid to give all the details (other suppliers, timings, theme of the event), this ensures they can give you the best service (not hike the prices up) Share pictures, colour swatches and let the professional know the vision you have in your head.
Describe a recent project that went well. Scope? How long did it take?
I was given a customer from a company that was closing, the previous company had met the customer and already priced the function. I agreed to fulfill the customers requests the way the previous company had promised. Due to the pandemic it was hard to arrange a face to face meeting with the bride so we spoke on the phone and corresponded via email. The bride sent over pictures of what the would like and the colours. We went back and forth with pictures to ensure she knew the colours I would be providing for her. With the restrictions due to corona-virus we spoke several times on the phone before her wedding, to ensure she was happy to go ahead (I could move everything to a different date FOC, providing I hadn't inflated the balloons) The day arrived and I turned up with my team, took the pre-inflated balloons out of the van and tears came to her eyes I had "got the exact colour right for her" It was 1 large organic arch and 6 balloon pillars - Coral & Chrome Gold with tropical leaf detail. The bride was very happy, the next day I spoke with her and she couldn't believe I had "got inside her head" just from a few pictures and phone calls. 8 hours prep, 3 hours onsite
How did you first get into this line of work?
I worked as a Saturday girl for my mothers business, we sold party ware, balloons, fancy dress etc. The business then took on a florist to grow the business, I worked with her when I started to work full time for the company. When she fell pregnant she trained me in the basics so I could cover for her while she was on maternity leave. I fell in love with floristry and when she decided she loved being a full time mum and wouldn't be coming back to our company I went back to college (part time) for 2 years to become fully qualified. My mother and I worked really well together growing and expanding the business. Unfortunately after 22 years with the fact that Angela wanted to retire and the corona-virus had cut all our takings for 2020 she decided she would close the company. I thought long and hard and came to the conclusion that I wasn't finished working in this industry so have decided to branch out on my own and hopefully I can take my new company in a whole new direction.
