About Charlotte Chu

To me, the only thing that lives up to the experience of playing the piano is teaching others and spreading the joy of music. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been deeply passionate about music, and the piano in particular. To me, music is an indescribable thing of beauty, and it has the wonderful ability to communicate, soothe, excite, and delight in equal measure. As a piano teacher with a decade of experience, I am deeply passionate about sharing my knowledge and fondness for music with my students. Nothing pleases me more than inspiring in others the deep and abiding appreciation I have for playing the piano, and more than just coaching people to play the instrument proficiently, I strive to plant the seeds that will grow into a lifelong passion. As a teacher, I motivate my students to work tirelessly towards the goals they have set, and my energetic approach encourages them to always put 100 per cent effort into our sessions. While also being rigorous and stimulating, all my lessons are also fun and entertaining. I’ve always been able to develop strong and trusting relationships with young people of all ages, so my students consistently feel relaxed and at ease and gain the confidence to improve their skills. I know that every student is different, so I always tailor my lessons to the individual mood, ambitions, and learning style. I am happy to teach students of any ability at all, gladly helping them to reach their goal, whether they want to pass with their flying colours, develop a mastery to play in an orchestra, or just learn the basics. I am extremely flexible as a teacher, always staying open to students’ ideas and comments about how they want the lessons to go. I have a bachelor's degree in music, a PDGE in early childhood education, and I have attained the LRSM in piano performance along with grade 8 theory. I can teach in Chinese or English, and would love to hear from you. Please do get in contact to book a lesson, or for a more detailed discussion.
