I have been playing drums for over 20 years and absolutely love playing and teaching the instrument. Since graduating from the University of York with a First Class Honours Degree five years ago, I have had a variety of experiences as a professional performer including: playing in a rock/ pop band (The King's Parade) in O2 Academies around the UK, leading a professional 30 piece samba band and playing drum set in the prestigious National Youth Jazz Orchestra. I have been giving private lessons both in and out of schools for the last ten years to students of all ages (ranging from 5 to 71) and abilities (complete beginner to advanced). I teach both the Trinity and Rockschool syllabus (Grades 1-8) but am also happy to work with students who just want to improve their general musicianship. My approach to teaching is friendly and encouraging, and I try to get students playing to music/ backing tracks as early on as possible, believing that this is one of the best and most enjoyable ways in which you can learn.
