Meet Aaron

A video is more than a thousand pictures – an exceptional video can create waves about your brand, share insights or entertain the masses. Whatever you are after, it would be a privilege to help you with your video project. My name is Aaron, and I am a freelance videographer and video editor with a BA in Film Production and over 10 years of video editing experience. I gained valuable experience working on a spectrum of video projects, including short films, music videos, promotional videos, social media advertisements and more. My passion for editing is driven by my desire to create lively and exciting videos which leave a lasting impression, and I work hard to achieve this in every project I undertake. I am proficient in using post-production software, including Premiere Pro and After Effects, along with other aspects of video creation such as graphic design and sound editing. My fascination with video production began at an early age, and I often wrote scripts and filmed sketches with a neighbourhood friend. This hobby eventually took flight and compelled me to seek a career as a video editor. I enrolled into university to study film production, expand my skills and insight, and build a strong network of contacts in the industry. I dabbled in various projects, including documentaries, music videos, promotional videos and short movies, as these encouraged me to experiment with different techniques and harness my creativity in exciting ways. I want to expand my opportunities and apply my skills to take on challenging projects. My training in filmmaking roles like directing, screenwriting, cinematography, sound and production design means that I am versatile and love exploring new perspectives. I welcome the opportunity of working on projects that kindle conversations and shine the spotlight on something significant. I am happy to work solo or as part of a team. As a detail-oriented individual, I pay attention to the little things that matter and work with care on every single cut while being mindful of deadlines. Being flexible and nimble are major assets in this industry. I think quickly on my feet to come up with ideas and workable solutions, even under stressful situations or set limitations. Whether you want a candid documentary, a fast-paced video for your blog or want to convert a series of videos into a fun and impressive montage, I am a talented videographer and video editor that you can always rely on! Feel free to read some of the reviews I have received from happy clients and check out some of my previous work. Thank you for your time, and do get in touch to discuss your requirements and I look forward to working on your project.

Not only was Aaron's work top notch, but he was always calm, polite, professional, punctual and got the work that was extremely complex - completed in record time! Undoubtedly 5 stars for this man. His fees were also extremely competitive. Aaron's film editing is second to none, and I will definitely be working with him again and again. Huge thank you. Fantastic service!!!

Shaun W.'s review on 20 Sep, 2020

I hired Aaron to take over the video editing on my YouTube videos because it was taking over my life, my one worry was whether he would match the quality and style of the videos I have already created, I was worried I would have to send the videos back with lots of comments but Aaron has been nailing the edits 1st time! so glad I hired him, he understands the clients needs, he quick at responding and is a great guy to work with! I would definitely recommend him to anyone else looking for a full time video editor

Samantha H.'s review on 3 Sep, 2020

Aaron was very responsive to our needs as a customer, there were many opportunities to discuss what we wanted and as this was our first digital filming production he guided us through the process. Aaron was very particular in both filming and editing and paid close attention to detail and our needs throughout the process. We will be working with him again and we thoroughly recommend him to others for a hand on friendly professional experience.

Questions & answers

What should customers know about your pricing? (E.g. estimates, discounts, fees, package pricing)
As I am still a relatively new freelancer, I will charge a lower price than many other video editors while I build my portfolio of clients. I currently charge a £10 hourly rate, although I am open to negotiate a set price per project if desired.
What process do you go through when starting with a new customer?
At first I like to discuss the project brief to learn as much as I can about what the customer wants out of my service and so I can plan how to approach my side of work on it. Following this, I will download the source footage and watch it through, making notes while I do, before finally starting to edit the video. As I reach various milestones throughout the project, I will upload and send drafts of the video to the customer in order to receive feedback so I can plan any changes to make in order to suit their desires. Following editing comes colour correction, sound editing and motion graphics/animations when relevant. Once the video is done, I will upload and send it to the customer as soon as possible.
What education or training is most relevant to your work?
I have a BA in Film Production from Solent University and over 10 years of both self-taught and professionally taught video editing experience.
Do you have tips or advice for someone hiring a pro in your line of work?
Find someone who can offer the whole post-production package. Many video editors specialise purely in editing, whereas post-production can encompass a larger range of work including graphic design, colour correction, special effects and sound editing. Hiring someone who can offer all of this in addition to cutting your video together can really up the presentation and quality of your video.
What questions should customers have ready before speaking to pros about their project?
What do you need me to send? How long do you think this will take?
What are some good examples of past customers?
In my time as a freelancer, I have produced video content for several businesses including Imajica Theatre Company, the Military Intelligence Museum and Hide/Run. I regularly collaborate with the YouTube channel "Cinema Rules" and have worked with The Arts of Change Trust charity.
Describe a recent project that went well. Scope? How long did it take?
I recently completed a video project for Imajica Theatre Company, in which I filmed and edited an hour long children's pantomime performance into a video I then split into 4 acts to be used for digital festivals. I spent about a month working on this project due to its large scale as well as the need to colour correct, create motion graphics and simple animations in addition to the thorough editing.
How did you first get into this line of work?
I first began editing gaming videos as a hobby in 2010, but this blossomed into a passion as I progressed through school and took Film Studies and Media Production classes. I began to fully realise the potential of film and video content in how it could leave a lasting impression on people. This motivated me to study Film Production at university, a course on which I worked on a huge amount of film and video projects while developing my skills as an editor. Following my graduation, I began freelance video editing part-time alongside a retail job and now I'm looking to expand this into a full-time business.
