I'd never considered going this route before for IKEA assembly. But faced with a massive sliding door PAX we took a punt, and we're very glad we did. Aaron was very quick to respond, with a very reasonable quote, and worked just as well, on budget and on time. We had a few niggles along the way due to an uneven floor, but we found a way and the result is as good as can be. Would 100% recommend!

Questions & answers

What should customers know about your pricing? (E.g. estimates, discounts, fees, package pricing)
It includes all assembly work, organised rubbish at the end and consultation with the customer to make sure they're fully satisfied with it.
What process do you go through when starting with a new customer?
I introduce myself and tell the customer what I can offer, my experience and request as much detail as possible about the items that need assembling, I also find out when is best for the customer as I always try to be as flexible as possible to suit the customers needs.
What education or training is most relevant to your work?
I've been assembling furniture for over 4 years and have assembled 100's of items from a variety of retailers, Ikea being my highest amount of experience.
Do you have tips or advice for someone hiring a pro in your line of work?
My advice would be to have as much detail about your items such as make and model of each item, that will allow accurate estimates to be made and will let the assembler know exactly what is needed to be done, ideally avoiding any issues at the time of the booking. I'd also recommend, if possible, clearing a space for the assembly to happen and place the boxes inside the room of choice, as this will save time on the day of assembly.
What questions should customers have ready before speaking to pros about their project?
Ask if the assembler works by themselves or they will need help from the customer, I personally don't like asking for help as I like to provide the service and wouldn't expect a customer to help with something they're paying someone else to do. I'd also recommend asking about experience and if there will be additional costs etc as some assemblers like to "surprise" clients with things like this and I don't agree with that. I always put everything upfront so people know what they're getting for their money - I find openness and honesty always works best.
What are some good examples of past customers?
I have done jobs for many different people, including residents and landlords, as well as furniture for office installations too. From bedside tables upto full Ikea Pax wardrobes, have even done outside furniture such as patio sets and trampolines.
Describe a recent project that went well. Scope? How long did it take?
I've recently completed a task for a returning client who develops properties and this particular booking consisted of 49 different pieces of furniture (beds/wardrobes/chests of drawers/bedside tables/sofas and a dining table and chairs) across three properties and I had it completed in just under 30 hours. They were very happy with the job and have confirmed once again I'll be booked in the near future.
How did you first get into this line of work?
I got into this when I ordered something from Ikea and saw a flyer offering the assembly service and knew I'd be good at it so decided to give it a go, and the rest is history, as they say!
