How much does hardwood floor installation cost?

Feb 21, 2018

A popular choice for living rooms and bedrooms, hardwood adds a feeling of warmth to your home.

Hardwood can give any room a dramatic change. Not sure where to start? Make sure to consider all of the aspects of the project to get the right results.

Type of Project

Over time, floors may start to show their age or suffer from the damage of daily wear and tear.

Are you considering a new floor? Then again, perhaps you're considering a few repairs. Before you head out to look for a pro consider what sort of project you are taking on as this will shape the project and influence your budget.

Type of Hardwood

With so many styles of hardwood on the market, you're sure to find an option that fits your budget and aesthetic. Some popular styles include solid wood, bamboo, engineered hardwood and laminate flooring.

Durable and timeless, solid wood is built to last. Solid wood is a highly desirable option for flooring.

Bamboo is an alternative option to wood that offers durability and easy maintenance.

Engineered hardwood is built from multiple layers of wood. This flexible flooring can be used in basements or with underfloor heating.

Laminate flooring gives you the classic wood look without the price tag. Like engineered hardwood, this option will also suit installation in basement rooms or bathrooms.

Number of Rooms Which Need Flooring

Most hardwood floor installations involve multiple rooms in your home. Running the same flooring through the whole level gives your home great flow.

Many homeowners prefer all the flooring to match on the same level of your home. Choosing hardwood for every bedroom can help with your resale value as well!

You can alternatively lay wood flooring in a single room as an accent. Just make sure if you go this route that the hardwood will fit with the other flooring in your home.

Special Attributes of The Floor

If one of your rooms has a strange shape, it can take longer to lay wood flooring. Your pro will need to spend more time measuring, cutting, and fitting the flooring.

The same applies for stairs. Covering stairs with hardwood requires special skills. Make sure you look for a pro with experience working on stairs.

Underfloor heat can be the perfect thing to make your new hardwood toasty underfoot. If this is part of your project, make sure to ask your expert if you have the right kind of flooring. Solid wood won't do.

In each of these cases make sure to consider how these special attributes will affect your budget.

The type of project you have will influence how long it takes to complete. Bringing in a pro to replace some boards or make repairs won’t take as long as if you were to completely replace the floor. If the supplies are already in hand, they might even be in and out within a few hours.

However, this is, of course, dependent on your project. In contrast, laying wood flooring for an entire level of your home can take a few days. A more complex job with closets or doorways will also add to the anticipated time.

Remember that if complications arise the job will always take longer. However, your pro should be able to tell you what to expect if work is delayed.

It can be difficult to find the right pro for your project. To ensure that you do, check out their Bidvine profile. On their profile, you'll be able to see before and after pictures of previous projects, read about their business and read reviews from past clients. This will help to provide you with a more well-rounded idea of your pro’s experience.

Cost of living can influence how much a pro will charge for their work. So, keep in mind that if you live in an area with a higher cost of living and higher transportation costs that this will influence rates. If you're not sure how location will factor into your pro's rates simply ask.

Hardwood flooring is a durable, elegant look for any room in your home. Bring in a pro to handle laying your new floor. Thanks to their expertise, you won't have to learn how to lay a wood floor yourself.

It's important that your wood floor is level. Not only will you enjoy your floors more, but you'll increase the resale value on your home.

Adrian was professional, tidy, and did a fantastic job of plastering our hallway wall. He showed up at the agreed upon time, and charged what was initially quoted. Additionally, he was kind enough to answer a number of questions we had about our flat and its general upkeep; he's a genuinely friendly person and was a pleasure to have around. We recommend him without reservation.

Antonio came to my apartment to assemble a brand new sideboard. I was very impressed with his punctuality, his good manners and very impressed with his work. He did an excellent job and even helped me move the sideboard into position and move a table to another space. Very helpful and a delight to have working in my home. It’s always difficult having a stranger in your home! I am buying further items for my home and will DEFINITELY call on this young professional man. # IMPRESSED!!

I hired Tadeusz from BEGC Developments & Maintenance to build an interior wall for a new shop I opened. He gave me an extremely fair quote for a full day job. Until he came to do the job few more issues came up: plumbing, electricity hanging some signs. he did it all for me with no extra charge and did great work! I even had one big sign that delayed in shipment and arrived after he finished. He actually came back to hang it and charged only for fuel & parking cost!! On top of all of that Tadeusz and his guys are just great lads! I will definitely keep working with Tadeusz for all my other shops too, and highly recommend everyone to use his services too!!
