We are excited to announce that Barbara De Biasi, the founder of Fireworks Music School, will be offering free piano music lessons at St. Pancras next week (on the public Yamaha B3 donated by Elton John!) in order to help raise awareness about the arts.
According to figures released in late 2015, Arts Council England has had its government grant cut by 36 per cent since 2010 ‘and is likely to face further squeezes’. In fact around fifty percent of young children were taking part in activities like learning to play a musical instrument in 2010, with the number now having fallen to 30 per cent. Barbara, and Bidvine, would like to raise awareness about this issue and get more people playing!
The lessons will take place at St. Pancras piano, 11am to Noon, from Monday 23rd until Friday 27th May. The 15 minute long lessons can be booked via the form below and will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. If you can’t make it to St. Pancras, but would like to take some piano lessons of your own, simply submit a request and we’ll match you to up to 5 local music teachers.
Thank you for all of the interest and fell free to lend your voice to this issue with the hashtag #PlayMorePiano
EDIT: Our #PlayMorePiano campaign has now concluded, and we are excited to announce that our it was a huge success. We couldn’t have done it without you and to commemorate the occasion, we put together a short video, which you can watch here. If you feel inspired to start taking piano lessons, please click here.
