Best Wedding Photography Tips for Brides and Grooms – Pro Post
If you’re planning your wedding right now, we bet you’re looking for the top wedding photography tips for brides and grooms. Your wedding photos are probably the most important memento of your big day, so it’s important to make the most of hiring a photographer.
Our first tip is to hire a professional photographer. You want to make sure you’re getting the best photos of your wedding, without having to worry that someone is taking photos. In short, you shouldn’t be trusting your wedding photography to your cousins or grandparents, as you won’t get high-quality shots from them.
For this pro post, we consulted a Bidvine pro, Adrian Cottrell of Peterborough Wedding Photographers, to learn more about his top wedding photography tips for couples. We’ve also scattered in some Bidvine tips to make sure you get the most advice possible!

Top Wedding Photography Tips for Couples
Here are a few practical wedding photography tips to help couples get the best from their professional photographer.
Choose a photogenic venue.
Try to choose a venue where your outside images will shine – for example, a churchyard full of gravestones will make your images look like something out of The Munsters!
Think of possible locations for photography when you select your wedding venue. If it doesn’t have any (like the above), then move on.
How long will you need us for?
You might like to have a photographer around for ‘ten hours or more’ (as seen on some quotes!). But, remember that photographers are human and that they need breaks too. Plan carefully where and when you need your photographer and you will use his time effectively and get the best pictures.

Remember to feed your photographer!
How many weddings have I been to where, not only was I not offered food, but where there was not even a chair for me during the long sit down meal!
Brides, wear your new shoes a bit before the wedding day.
This really helps to avoid anguished faces in the reception shots! (A small tip, but it happens all the time).
Bidvine tip: If you’re getting married when it’s cold out, you may be looking for the perfect winter wedding bouquet. Check out our roundup of the best winter wedding bouquets here!
Spend some time going over your guest shooting list with your photographer and listen to their advice.
If you have 60 setup shots that you really need, your guests (however patient) will get very bored waiting in line, and this will show in the photographs, so arrange ‘set shots’ carefully and make sure that there is a trusty best man or bridesmaid who can help the photographer find the right people as quickly as possible.
Bidvine tip: Would you like some inspiration for your wedding pictures? We’ve collected our favourite wedding photo ideas from around the web and put them in one post. Whether you’re looking for candid wedding photos or black and white masterpieces, this post will help. So, check out this article for our favourite inspiration for your wedding photos!
This is your big day, and your photographer will try his very best to get the shots you will love to keep. The less nervous and more natural you can be, the better the images will look.
